- Deaf Club(4 days)
Deaf Youth Club is a fun, fast paced experience which deaf and hard-of-hearing students in the Fulton area have been enjoying for over seven years!
Deaf Youth Club includes times for games, music, drama, crafts, snacks, Bible stories and other activities. The format varies a bit from meeting to meeting, but Deaf Club is primarily designed for Elementary and Middle School children (ages 8 and up). High School students often attend and are able to help with the younger children, as well as enjoy themselves.
One thing you can be sure of-at each Deaf Club meeting, the students will be presented with a Bible Story told in sign language with drama, video, flannelgraph or a variety of other visual aids, and students will be introduced to various characteristics like love, faith, kindness, peace and obedience.
The volunteer staff for Deaf Club are hearing, hard-of-hearing and deaf, and come from various church backgrounds. All regular volunteer staff will have a complete background check done through the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and all have at least some experience with sign language and Deaf Culture.
Deaf Youth Club meets the first and third Thursday of each month (September through May), from 6-8 pm, at First Baptist Church, Fulton (701 Court St.). Students are picked up from the MSD dorms in FBC's van by drivers who hold a Class E (chauffeur's) licenses.
Due to a NEW POLICY at MSD, in order for your child to attend Deaf Club, YOU MUST RETURN A SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP to MSD EACH MONTH, noting that your child is allowed to attend off campus activities with Hands of Love Deaf Ministry, specifically Deaf Club.
You can find these permission slips HERE in downloadable format.
