What Is a Deaf Teen Event?

New for the 2006-2007 School Year, Hands of Love’s Deaf Teen Events have proven to be a favorite among Middle School and High School students.

Varying in format from month to month, Hands of Love’s Teen Events usually include a multi-media presentation consisting of videos, picture slide shows, loud music, food, drama, fun and messy games, group games and a variety of other activities.

During the last school year, we also held a number of other events or parties, including a Pirate Party, a Costume Party, a make-your-own-pizza and games night, a Christmas Party and an End of School BBQ/Picnic. We have also held Water Balloon Parties, an Aloha Party, a Carnival and a Spring Bash. We look forward very much to the fun events and parties this year will hold.

Where are Teen Events Held?

Our Teen Events and parties have been held in a few various locations in Fulton: The MSD Scout Cabin, the Veteran’s Park Scout Cabin (across the street from MSD’s), Veteran’s Park Baseball Diamond, Volunteer’s Homes, First Baptist Church, and MSD’s Stark Gym. Students are accompanied by trained staff at all times as they are either walked to the location (if it’s near MSD) or are picked up in First Baptist Church’s van, by drivers who hold a Class E (chauffeur’s) license.

Who are the Workers?

All regular volunteers for Hands of Love’s Teen Events and Parties will have a complete background check done through the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and most have extensive experience with sign language, teenagers and deaf culture.

How Can my Chid Be Involved?
